Resume Tips
Here are a few ideas for you to keep in mind when putting your resume together. But remember, at All Support Personnel, we’re experts at helping clients produce resumes that get results. Call today for a consultation.

  1. Remember that the purpose of a resume is not to make a list of your skills and abilities. Rather, your resume needs to be crafted to kindle the interest of your prospective employer and to generate an interview.
  2. Because your resume has less than 45 seconds in which to make a positive impression, details like spelling, grammar, and punctuation do matter.
  3. Before you sit down to write your resume, you need to think carefully about what you have to offer a prospective employer. What marketable skills do you have? What have you learned through your past work experience? Talking to one of our counselors here at All Support Personnel can be a big help in answering these questions.
  4. An effective job search also depends on your understanding what your personal career goals are. Someone who wants to make a lot of money will have very different job search priorities than someone who wants work that involves social and political change. Similarly, someone who enjoys manual labor will have to think very differently about his or her resume than someone interested in working as computer programmer.
  5. The information on your resume must be truthful, accurate, and verifiable. Many employers have a policy of firing someone who has lied on his or her resume, regardless of how good an employee that man or woman might be. They reason that if you lied on your resume to get your foot in the door, how can they be sure that you won’t lie again if it suits your purpose.
